Please note that this item has been repaired (not by me) due to wear and tear. The chains described below have been reattached with thread and the piece is missing both several chains and several cabochons. Price reflects the piece's condition.
This item is for one pendant adornment made by the Kuchi people in Afghanistan. This was traditionally used as a textile pendant, with the circle dome at the top sewn onto a dress with the chains of ornaments dangling freely. Metal tassels and paddles hang from the chains, creating a rhythmic jingle with every movement. The noise was used to both announce ones arrival and to ward off the evil spirits. The entire piece measures about 9 inches in length. Use as is or take apart for a mixed media assemblage.
