This is a very cool item - a vintage, handheld tool, for making faux grain on a painted surface. It has a handle which is slightly loose but attached. As can be seen in the images, there are also some chips in the wood grain design. This would be a great addition to any artist's supplies whether it is used for decor, to paint, or both. It measures approximately 3 inches wide.
