Jo Packham Art Fundraiser

March 29, 2023

This pandemic has had a tremendous impact on us all, on so many levels, and in so many different ways. As we continue to navigate through these tough times, more and more career creatives are finding it harder and harder to survive.

Earlier this week I read about the struggles of Jo Packham. This is the amazing woman behind such magazines as Where Women Create and Where women create WORK. The magazine industry, already sinking pre-pandemic, has been decimated in the last 6 months. Jo has had to shut down the publication of her beloved magazines. The ones who have showcased so many of us.

As a result, she has now had to put up for sale her building in Ogden, Utah, which houses her studio and event space. What many of you might not know is that Jo's longtime efforts were behind a complete overhaul of her area in Ogden into a safe and exciting creative community.

Anybody who has met Jo knows how special she is. And I mean special. This superwoman has spent her entire career supporting, promoting, and lifting up others. The time has now come for us to do the same for her.

Her photographer Brooke Lark has started a gofundme page to help Jo get back on her feet. Wanting to do more than provide a small donation, I decided to create a community event in hopes that there are many of you who might want to help Jo in these challenging times as well.

This Sunday October 4 - from 10:30am to 10:30pm - I will be hosting an art sale on my blog. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Jo via her gofundme page. By the time Sunday rolls around, I hope to have 30+ artists contributing their work -- and other treasures.

Hoping our community comes together in this challenging time and shows up for Jo. Oh...and you will be able to get some stellar art from some stellar artists in the process.

Details will be shared soon. Just plan on showing up at this blog on Sunday 10/4 at 10:30 Eastern. See you there!
